What the index is

We gather and publish salary benchmarks for pilots and other executive aviation professionals, based on surveys answered by the professionals themselves. The goal is a more transparent market, and career and hiring decisions grounded in reliable data.

Independence

THE PILOT INDEX is an independent initiative: it does not belong to operators, manufacturers, associations or employers, and its results reflect what the professionals themselves report.

How we work

In short, the methodology follows four principles:

• Salary surveys conducted since 2023 among executive aviation professionals.
• Results are published only when the sample is large enough to be representative.
• Statistics are deterministic: the same set of answers always produces the same result, with no invented estimates.
• No individual data is ever disclosed: only aggregated results are shown.
